RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: A five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near her house in the Ghaziabad locality on Sunday morning.

The R.A. Bazaar police said the daughter of a cart pusher went to an adjacent ground at 10am to play, where she was raped by some unknown person. When the mother of the girl went out looking for her daughter, the little girl was found in a critical condition at the ground.

The victim was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Station House Officer Malik Allah Yar told Dawn that the police were investigating the matter but they were finding it difficult to get the exact details as the parents of the girl were special persons.

He said the uncle of the girl had lodged an FIR against the unknown person.

Doctors at the hospital said the condition of the child was critical and they were trying to save her life. She has been shifted to the medical ward and her medical examination report handed over to the police for registration of an FIR, they added.
