LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 22: Police arrested a proclaimed offender from a private hospital in Lakki city and booked the doctor who was treating him for his bullet injuries on the charge of providing him shelter, officials said on Thursday.

They said the outlaw Abdul Rehman, wanted by Dera police in murder, attempted murder, robbery and other cases of heinous nature, was on the run for some time. Police raided the hospital and arrested him after receiving a tip that he was receiving treatment there under the fake name of Asmatullah. “He had received bullet injuries in a clash with his rivals in Kattakhel village of Dera Ismail Khan,” the officials said.

The wounded outlaw was shifted to City Hospital and a case was registered against Dr Abdul Wahid Zakori under section 216 of PPC for sheltering and treating him in the private health facility.

Meanwhile, police arrested six persons and recovered illegal weapons from their possession in Serai Gambila area during a search operation.

The arrested persons were identified as Wali Ayaz, Ameer Nawaz, Rahim Din, Ali Rehman, Naqeebullah and Akbar Nawaz. Police recovered two Kalashnikovs, four pistols and 149 bullets from their possession.

Police also claimed to have arrested 67 wanted outlaws during a fortnight campaign in different parts of the district. “An improvised explosive device, three Kalashnikovs, six shotguns, a rifle, 560 cartridges and 5,475 grams hashish were seized during the operation,” police said.
