SIALKOT, Sept 17: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has started an inquiry into corruption allegations against officials of Daska TMA’s maps and commercial fee collection branch for committing financial irregularities to the tune of Rs32 million.

The ACE has started the probe in the light of audit reports pertaining to the consecutive tenures of former tehsil nazims Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmad Cheema and Haji Nasir Mehmood Cheema and has also recorded statements of some of the officials.

The accused officials allegedly did not collect map approval fee and commercial fee from 72 politically influential persons and helped them construct their multi-storey buildings in Daska city and outskirts.

The TMA has also issued notices to the 72 property owners for the recovery of outstanding dues. It has also sought DCO Mujahid Sher Dil’s intervention to take further action against the defaulters.—Correspondent
