Trader found slain

LAHORE, Sept 11: A 35-year-old oil dealer was found murdered in LDA Avenue on Raiwind Road on Sunday. Police were alerted by locals who spotted the body lying abandoned in the morning.

The victim identified as Majeed Masih of Shahpur Kanjaran left home on Saturday evening after some unidentified people called him out.

Chuhng circle DSP Shoaib Ahmad said the victim was slain with a sharp-edged weapon as his throat was found slit open. He said police also seized his cell phone and a wallet containing Rs60.

The DSP said he dialed the number of Majeed’s wife and informed her about the incident.

He said the woman told the police that a motorcyclist came to their house at 7pm on Saturday and took Majeed along. He said police were examining incoming and outgoing data of the victim’s cell phone.

Meanwhile, police handed over the body to the family and registered a case.

ACCIDENTS: Two unidentified people were killed and another injured in two road accidents here on Sunday.

Kahna police said a collision between a rickshaw and a motorcycle left a 25-year-old motorcyclist dead and another injured near Main Ferozepur Road.

The rickshaw driver fled after leaving the motorcyclists injured on the spot.

One of them, yet to be identified, died on the spot while the other -- Ejaz of Chah Meeran (Misri Shah) -- was admitted to Lahore General Hospital.

Police shifted the dead to Jinnah Hospital’s morgue and registered a case.

Tibbi City police said a 70-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Attique Stadium.

The man, yet to be identified, was crossing the road at the time of the incident.

The victim was rushed to Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against the driver who absconded.

arrested: The Nawab Town police claimed on Sunday to have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered from them 10kg chars.

According to sub-inspector Muhammad Ibrar, a police team raided a place and took Muhammad Imran, Imran Ahmad, Khawar and Sarwar into custody for possessing 10kg chars.

A case has been registered against the suspects.
