LAHORE, Sept 9: The Azra Naheed Medical College (ANMC) management has vowed to take action against University of Health Sciences (UHS) officials for defaming it, said a press release issued by the ANMC on Friday.

The management said the ANMC was a duly registered medical college through a Pakistan Medical and Dental College (PMDC) notification F3-46/2008-MER dated Aug 13, 2011, and is a constituent college of the Superior Group of Colleges, a degree awarding institute. The ANMC reacted over news that the Punjab government has initiated criminal proceedings against illegally operating private medical and dental institutions in the province.

The press release said the PMDC had praised its infrastructure, quality of teaching faculty and modern infrastructure and technologies of the college and declared it as an excellent educational institute due to which the ANMC was allowed to impart MBBS degrees to hundred students annually.

The press release said the Superior Group of Colleges was recognised globally due to its unique research culture, linkages and pioneer in split degree programmes, and even thousands of its alumni hold prestigious position throughout the world.

The Law Ministry and jurists like SM Zafar are of the opinion that the college is authorised to award MBBS degrees through the ANMC without any affiliation with the UHS, the college management claimed in the press release.
