ISLAMABAD, Sept 7: The Koral police arrested the mastermind behind the kidnapping of a 10-year-old boy for a Rs7 million ransom last month.

A police spokesman said Samiullah was recovered on August 30 three days after he was kidnapped from Korang Town. Police at that time arrested three of the kidnappers but the mastermind behind the crime remained at large.

SP (rural) Faisal Bashir Memon had constituted a team under the supervision of SHO Koral Inspector Mehr Munawar which colleted details about the mastermind, Syed Ali Shah, a property dealer, from the arrested persons. On Wednesday morning, the police arrested the mastermind from his residential area of Soan. He will be produced in the court of law to obtain his physical remand for further investigation.

The police said Shah had acquaintance with the maternal grandfather of the kidnap victim. He had also arranged a deal for the purchase of a house for Samiullah’s father at Kurang Town against Rs8 million some two months back.

Meanwhile, the capital police arrested five outlaws for their alleged involvement in thefts, drug peddling and recovered stolen motorbikes, mobile phones, cash, television sets, cameras, prize bonds and one kilogramme hashish from their possession.

The Margalla police arrested three auto-thieves and recovered two stolen motorcycles from their possession.

The Tarnol police intercepted a man at Doray Khan and recovered one kg hashish from his possession. Likewise, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) rounded up an alleged thief and recovered a stolen camera, TV set, prize bonds, mobile phones and cash from his possession.
