KARACHI, Nov 7: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has said that the government places special emphasis on improving health of the people.

He was speaking as chief guest at a book-launching ceremony here on Thursday.

Mr Soomro said dermatology was an important field of medicine and skin was the largest part of the human body. Skin not only represented its own diseases but was also a mirror for internal disorders, he added.

He stated that knowledge enlightened societies and was a key to progress. “Our culture and religion both lay great emphasis on its importance.”

The governor was of the view that the knowledge that helped understand various diseases and offered treatment and cure was more sacred.

The Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) had also stressed the importance of acquiring knowledge, he added.—APP
