DADU, Nov 6: A major electricity breakdown occurred in Dadu town and its surrounding areas as a result of which a large number of people including traders, NGOs, and political activists staged a demonstration in front of the press club against the Hesco on Wednesday.

The demonstrators carrying banners raised slogans against Hesco officials.

While talking to newsmen, they alleged that the Hesco officials were supplying electricity illegally to the factory owners and poultry farms against the gratification of Rs20,000 to Rs25,000 per month.

They said that to cover these losses, the Hesco officials resorted to “engineered” loadshedding in Dadu, Johi, Sehwan, Khairpur, Nathan Shah and its surrounding areas.

They complained that were being sent inflated bills by Hesco.

PROTEST: A large number of residents of the Railway Colony held a demonstration in front of the press club on Wednesday to protest against the demolition of houses in their locality and its surrounding areas.

The protesters were carrying banners. They were led by the president of the Minorities Association, Dadu district, and Councillor Omesh Kumar.

Their representatives told newsmen that the assistant executive engineer, Pakistan Railways (PR), and the SHO, Railway police, had called two residents of Railway Colony, Bheema and Cheelo, and demanded Rs20,000.

They further said that the officials threatened to have their houses demolished in the name of “encroachment” if they did not pay the amount to the PR authorities.

They said that when both of them refused to give money, the officials had their houses demolished and their furniture destroyed.

They said that during demolition, the roof of Bheema’s house collapsed over his son, Dilip Kumar, as a result of which he was seriously injured.
