LARKANA, Nov 6: Nisar Khuhro on Wednesday advised the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to sit with the People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) in the Sindh Assembly to form the provincial government.

Speaking to Dawn in the ‘katcha’ of Larkana, he said that he was unable to understand why the Muttahida was hindered from coming close to the PPP, when it was trying to “spread it wings” in the interior of the province.

He said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement should realise the gravity of the situation and should do something to end what he termed as its isolation.

The Muttahida’s indecisiveness, he said, about lending support was ample proof of its isolation.

Khuhro, however, expressed his optimism about the PPP’s prospects regarding formation of the government in Sindh, saying that he had held productive talks with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pir Pagaro of the Pakistan Muslim League (F) and the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal.

He said that he was confident that the PPP could muster enough support to form the Sindh government.

Khuhro said that the PML (F) might lend support to PPP as the National Alliance had nominated Arbab Rahim for the slot of chief minister in Sindh, while the PML (F) had Muzaffar Shah in mind for this key position.

Nisar Khuhro said that the PPP should be supported in the assembly by smaller political groups as it was the majority party.

Responding to a question regarding formation of government in the Centre, Khuhro expressed his optimism regarding an understanding between the PPP and the MMA.

Khuhro said that the opponents of the PPP could not form government in Sindh even if they bring together all smaller political groups.

He called upon the Muttahida leadership to weigh things carefully and support the PPP if they wanted to come close to the Sindhi people.

He hinted at holding another round of talks with the PML (F), the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the MMA.
