KARACHI, Nov 6: In a move against marriage halls established on residential plots in the city, the Karachi Building Control Authority on Wednesday sealed, under the Sindh Building Control Ordinance 1979, six such halls in North Nazimabad.

The sealed marriage halls include Revolving Garden, Shahab Mahal, Syed Lawn, Bismillah Lawn, 5-Fountain and Golden Garden. All these marriage halls and lawns are situated in Block ‘N’ of North Nazimabad on plots D-9 to D-14.

The KBCA had issued a one-week notice under the Sindh building Control Ordinance 2002 marriage halls established on residential plots, to the effect that they should either get regularized or face action, that could be demolition or sealing of halls, gardens and lawns.

The owner of one of the sealed marriage halls established at plot number D-14 requested that he wanted to use the marriage lawn for holding Taraweeh prayers, and was allowed to do so.

The sealing action against the illegal marriage halls and lawns located in F.B. Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Korangi, Orangi, Baldia Town, Malir, North Karachi and in other parts of the city will start on Thursday. The KBCA has asked the owners to avail themselves of the opportunity and get their properties registered.
