KARACHI, Aug 20: A sessions court on Saturday indicted two men for making forged government stamps and documents.

The two men — Mohammad Amin Ahmed and Mohammad Azeem — have been booked for allegedly printing, distributing and selling counterfeit challans and stamps of the National Bank of Pakistan and special stamps.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (east) Chaudhry Waseem Iqbal read out the charges against the accused. However, they pleaded not guilty and opted to contest the case.

The court summoned all prosecution witnesses directing them to appear in court on Aug 26 to record their statements.

According to the prosecution, a team of the Federal Investigation Agency arrested the accused in a raid and recovered fake challans and special rubber stamps from their possessions in April 2011.

They were booked under Sections 257 (making or selling instrument for counterfeiting government stamp), 258 (sale of counterfeit government stamp), 259 (having possession of counterfeit government stamp), 260 (using as genuine as government stamp known to be counterfeit), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471(using as genuine a forged document) and 34 (common intention) of the PPC.
