SUKKUR, Nov 5: The taluka police officer (TPO), Kandhkot, Niaz Chandio, was injured when a parcel bomb exploded in his house at about 3pm on Tuesday.

The police later arrested Deep Chand, an arms and ammunition dealer of Kandhkot, his son, Jai Ram, his seven employees, a servant of the TPO and others.

Deep Chand had reportedly sent a parcel of sweets and a cordless telephone to the TPO on Diwali.

The servant of the TPO, Ali Nawaz, received the parcel and handed over it to him.

When the TPO opened the parcel, it exploded, injuring his left hand. He was taken to the Kandhkot taluka hospital.

The police released Deep Chand and his son after investigation. Deep Chand denied having sent any parcel to the Kandhkot TPO.
