KARACHI, Nov 5: The Sindh cabinet, which met here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of governor Mohammedmian Soomro, decided to increase residential facilities for the employees of the provincial government.

Taking stock of the existing residential facilities available to its employees, the cabinet decided to acquire the flats constructed under the Pakistan Housing Scheme in Karachi. “Since the construction of flats has been completed, the employees will get the accommodation soon”, said the governor.

Mr Soomro directed the authorities concerned to prepare a comprehensive plan for providing residential, medical and transport facilities to the Sindh government employees.

Chief secretary K.B.Rind apprised the cabinet of the arrangements of offices, accommodations and transport made for the members of new provincial government. He told that the provincial assembly hostel was being renovated and a plan had been prepared to construct 33 additional rooms in the hostel.

The governor laid stress on making security arrangements, besides providing computer and other modern facilities at the offices of the next provincial government members.

The meeting reviewed steps taken with regard to good governance. The governor stressed timely completion of annual confidential reports and suggested making supervisory officers responsible in that respect.

Earlier, the cabinet rejected a proposal of running the Korangi Industrial Area on the SITE pattern. —PPI
