LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday said that resolutions for the creation of new provinces were only theatrics and if the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was serious on the issue, it should present a resolution in the National Assembly, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives outside the Punjab Assembly building, Mr Sanaullah said that constitutional ways of putting forth a resolution were already available and that a resolution could be presented in a provincial assembly only after it had been put forth in the National Assembly.

He further said that the PPP was using the slogan of the Seraiki province for political mileage.

Mr Sanaullah said the PPP's penchant for power “led to the division of Pakistan” and now it was “trying to break Punjab in order to perpetuate its corruption”.

Moreover, he said the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) would advocate the formation of new provinces on administrative bases.
