SUKKUR, July 31: A woman was killed and her daughter injured in an armed attack near Sarhad bypass in the Ghotki area on Sunday.

Aisha Kaladi and Zainab were waiting for a bus when two men on a motorcycle opened fire at them. Ms Aisha died on the spot and Zainab was injured.

Police took Zainab to Civil Hospital in Ghotki but due to absence of doctors and paramedical staff, operation to remove five bullets from her body was carried out after two hours. Zainab’s condition was said to be critical.

Aisha’s body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem. No case was registered till late Sunday evening.

It is said that the woman was killed in the name of honour.

In another incident, a man was axed to death near Agha Bijarani village in the Karampur area of Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Sunday.

The body of Bagan Jafri, 35, was found dumped at some distance from his house.

Police took the body to a local hospital and handed it over to relatives after post-mortem.

The reason of the killing could not be ascertained.

No case was registered till late Sunday evening.
