KARACHI, July 28: Lauding the organisation of a ju-jitsu camp here, the Consul General of Japan Masaharu Sato has said that such healthy activities would further boost the relationship between Pakistan and Japan.
The camp was organised by the Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation and Japan Cultural Centre, Karachi in collaboration with the Karachi Ju-Jitsu Association.
“This wonderful effort [of organising the ju-jitsu camp] will further strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and Japan.
Japanese Consulate will keep supporting such training camps in future as well,” Masaharu Sato said while addressing the awards ceremony of the Advanced Ju-jitsu Training Camp that concluded at the Japan Cultural Centre, Japan Consulate here the other day.
Masaharu further added that Japan has a reputation in various sports particularly martial arts, adding he himself had undergone martial arts training during his teenage.
A series of camps, like the one held here, at Japanese consulates in other cities of Pakistan is planned.
Masaharu acknowledged the efforts made by Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation president Khalil Ahmed Khan and Tariq Ali — camp commandant and Pakistan’s national ju-jitsu coach — for organising such camps.
Tariq, meanwhile, said the purpose of organising the camp at Japanese Consulate is to demonstrate that Pakistan has loads of talent in ju-jitsu, adding the country holds a significant place in the sport at the Asian level. He further said Pakistan will feature in the upcoming Asian Junior Ju-Jitsu Championship, to be held in South Korea.
Nawab Mohammad Jahangir Khanji, Nawab of Junagarh State, Zulfiqar Ali (Secretary Sindh Ju-Jitsu Association), Sahabzada Noorullah Khan (President Karachi Ju-Jitsu Association), Sheikh Mohammad Arshad (Chairman KJJA) and Mohammad Ali (Secretary Sindh Judo Association) were present at the closing ceremony of the camp.
