KARACHI, Oct 31: Bandits shot dead a watchman when he put up resistance to them in Gadap, Kathor, on late Wednesday night.

Police said that Ghulam Mohammed, aged 52, a watchman at a poultry farm near Super Highway, tried to put up resistance to three armed men who had barged into the farm.

The bandits opened fire on the watchman, leaving him in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A man shot his former wife and her husband to death in Landhi on Thursday.

Police said that Mohammed Irshad sprayed Zahida Parveen, aged 35, and her husband, Fazal Husain, aged 50, with bullets and escaped. Zahida died on the spot. Doctors at Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) pronounced her husband dead on arrival.

Zahida, who was earlier married to Irshad, had taken the house of Fazal Husain on rent some two years ago in Future Colony, Landhi. Fazal Husain married Zahida after Irshad divorced her. She had three children from her first husband.

On Thursday Irshad, with an accomplice, Ghulam Mustafa, barged into the house and sprayed the couple with bullets.

As they were fleeing, a police constable posted at Sharafi Goth police station, Khadim Husain, who lives in the same area and was then passing the area, entered the house and overpowered Irshad and Ghulam Mustafa.

Irshad is an ex-army man and Ghulam Mustafa an employee of Pakistan Navy. Fazal Husain was a security guard at the Pakistan Security Printing Press. His identity card was recovered from his pocket.

Police said that they recovered a mouser and a dagger from the possession of Irshad and Ghulam Mustafa.
