QUETTA, July 5: At least five Frontier Corps personnel were killed and six injured in a bomb attack in Mand town near the Iranian border on Tuesday.

The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) clamed responsibility for the attack.

“FC personnel were patrolling the area when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device,” an official said. He said the injured were taken to Quetta by helicopter. “Two of two of them are in serious condition in the Combined Military Hospital,” he said.

According to sources, the bomb was detonated by remote control when an FC convoy was in Tumpt Gozani area of Mand in Turbat district.

The explosion was followed by heavy firing, the sources said, adding that the assailants escaped after the attack. The explosion caused panic in the area.

FC personnel and administration officials arrived at the place and the area was cordoned off.
