ATHENS: Pakistan’s Mehwish Iftikhar did her country proud by clinching a table tennis gold in the keenly-contested final of the ongoing World Special Olympics here on Sunday.

Mehwish, a Kashmir-born special athlete with impaired hearing, is the student of Mirpur-based Kashmir Institute of Special Education (KISE) which imparts free educational facilities to special children.

Director KISE Dr. Amjad Insari told reporters here on Sunday that Mehwish already holds the distinction of being a gold-medalist at the National Olympics.

She attained another success after bagging second position in the federal regional Olympics held at the Sports Complex in Islamabad two yars ago.—Agencies
