CHITRAL, July 1: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister of Population Welfare Saleem Khan has extolled the efficiency of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Upper Dir and said it proved its mettle in a short span of two years, and the establishment of Chitral campus was yet another feather in its cap.

Talking to a gathering after inspecting the newly acquired building of the Chitral campus of the university on Friday, he assured the people that the campus would soon get its own building for which he would exercise his influence in the provincial government.He said the students of Chitral would now be able to get higher education at their doorsteps which had hitherto been a distant dream for Chitralis.

Registrar of the university Badshah Hussain and controller of examinations Prof Mohammad Roze Khan informed the minister that classes in the campus would start from the forthcoming academic session commencing from October, this year.

They said apart from the MA/MSc classes, 4-year BS classes in computer science would also be started.

Earlier, the university registrar signed the deed of agreement with the owner of the building acquired for the university campus.

ACCIDENT: In a traffic accident in Karimabad valley, the principal of a private school and a female student died on Friday morning.

The principal of Welfare Public School Abdul Hassan and one of his secondary class students Zeenat died when the jeep carrying them from Karimabad valley to Shoghore plunged into a deep ravine.

Chitral police said eleven persons were injured in the accident who were taken to the DHQ hospital where some of them were said to be in critical condition.
