KARACHI, June 27: The police on Monday arrested another suspect, bringing the number of the arrested men to two, wanted in connection with the DHA dance party killing case.

The police said that they arrested Waseem who was on security duty at the party along with Arif Roger who was still at large. The suspect was allegedly involved in the armed clash.

Earlier, a suspect, Zahid Butt, was arrested by the police and remanded in police custody by a judicial magistrate on Monday.

Zahid Butt came along with Talei Bugti, a grandson of the late Nawab Akbar Bugti, to the party where Mr Bugti and at least five other people were killed and nine others were wounded when the shoot-out broke out between the organisers and Mr Bugti and his associates early on Sunday morning.

Those who had been detained from the party following the killings were released by the police after questioning.

Two organisers of the party identified by the owner of the bungalow Nasir Khan, as Faisal and Saif are at large, the police said.

The police registered an FIR of the case on behalf of the state late on Sunday night because no one turned up as a complainant in the case.

DSP Gizri, Zamir Abbasi said that police had recovered a 9mm pistol and a magazine from the premises following the killing.

Subsequently police sealed the bungalow following the incident.

Another police officer pointed out that men from both the sides had been killed which suggested that both sides were heavily armed.

However, the police were able to recover only one 9mm pistol from the premises.

A CPLC official said that there were dozens of eyewitnesses of the altercation and subsequent gun battle that broke out during the party. However, nor the police had made any effort to contact them, nor it was expected that someone would voluntarily come forward to give a statement to the police, the official added.
