CHAKWAL, June 25: A man who killed a seven-year old boy after molesting him was sentenced to death on Saturday.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Asghar Khan sentenced Mohammad Yaqub, a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan, to life imprisonment and death and imposed Rs20,000 fine for molesting and killing Samran Ali in December last year.

Yaqub has to undergo six months additional imprisonment for not paying the fine.

According to police, Yaqub was staying in Pak Continental Hotel on Talagang Road along with a woman, Saiqa Noreen, and her two children, Ali and two-year-old Sara.  The couple had been living together in hotels after Saiqa left her first husband, Sajid Mehmood.

On December 27 last year, Saiqa left hotel along with her daughter, leaving Ali behind with Yaqub. He molested and later killed the seven-year old boy. After committing the crime, he brought the child to the District Headquarters Hospital and left.

Police had arrested Saiqa and held her as co-accused in the crime. However, the court released Saiqa giving her the benefit of doubt.
