Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Memorial Library, established by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, is suffering from several problems. One of the major problems is the electricity crisis. Owing to loadshedding, students cannot manage their studies properly. It makes their studies miserable and difficult.

The library is supervised by the district government Larkana but it has not taken any practical step to counter the problem of library.

The library has its standby generator. But, regretfully, the generator is dysfunctional for the last several years due to unavailability of fuel.

Visitors have repeatedly requested the district government to make the generator operational, but to no avail.

The lame excuse given by the district government is that there are no funds for fuel for the generator.

Surprisingly, the DCO Larkana has a budget for beautification projects, fuel for their own vehicles and for the protocol of ministers but nothing to address the grievances of Larkana’s only library.

The district government must realise that these expenditures are unimportant, costing heavy losses to educational institutions of the city.

Instead of spending millions of rupees on unnecessary beautification, the district government must spend the amount on the library which can cater to the needs of more or less five hundred youths.

The library is an institute that helps in improving educational standards. The authorities concerned should sincerely solve the problems related to this library.
