LAHORE, June 23: A woman and her infant daughter were shot dead allegedly by two people over a family feud in Kachi Abadi of Bhekaywal village, Iqbal Town, on Thursday, police said.

Faiza, 35, wife of Muhammad Siddique, and her five-month-old daughter, Abeeha, were critically injured when a distant relative, Qaiser Abbas of Mianwali district, along with his unidentified accomplice, opened fire on them at their house.

Preliminary police investigation showed that Qaiser was annoyed with Faiza over some family dispute.

Siddique, a Punjab University employee, told the police Qaiser came to their house and fired at his wife and daughter who were later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The accused after committing the crime fled the scene.

The police shifted the bodies to city morgue for autopsy, registering a murder case against the accused.

FOUND MURDERED: A rickshaw driver was found slain on Saggian Road in Shahdara on Thursday.

Shahdara police said some passersby informed the Rescue 15 about the body which was lying near Saggian Bridge.

City Investigation SP Ahmad Nawaz Cheema told Dawn the victim, identified as Khalid Mahmood, 25, of Ravi Road, had his last communication with his brother on Wednesday night.

He said unidentified people slit open his throat with a knife and threw his body near the Saggian Bridge.

He said the victim's rickshaw was missing, adding the police seized the murder weapon from the spot.
