ISLAMABAD, Oct 27: The national saving schemes (Defence Savings Certificates and Special Savings Certificates) of the government of Pakistan are scheduled to be launched for overseas Pakistanis in Dubai on Monday, says a press release.

The finance minister, Shaukat Aziz, will preside over the ceremony. This opportunity will facilitate overseas Pakistanis to invest in the schemes in UAE, where otherwise rate of return on bank deposits is negligible, the release said. The availability of these schemes will also facilitate investors to remit their money to Pakistan without incurring any expenditure on such transactions.

The schemes would be a registered security, which in case of loss and theft can be got re-issued from the bank branch from where these certificates were initially issued.—Our Reporter
