KARACHI, Oct 25: Managing-director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Brig Javed Ashraf (retired) has said that all resources will be utilized to provide the basic need of water to the people.

New schemes of the water board, he said, would be made in consultation with the Town Nazim.

The KWSB chief said this during his visit to various parts of Saddar Town along with Town Nazim Farooq Memon Fariya.

Brig Ashraf said efforts were being made to overcome water shortage due to the suspension of supply from Hub dam. He said joint efforts would be made to meet the water requirements in cooperation with elected representatives.

“Water board’s staff have clear instructions to work under Town Nazimeen and keep a constant contact with them,” he said. Strict disciplinary action would be taken against violators of this instruction, Brig Ashraf said.

Saddar Town Nazim Farooq Fariya said water supply was insufficient in most of the old city areas. He said he was under tremendous pressure from elected representatives and the people due to water scarcity.

He appealed to the KWSB to utilise alternative methods to supply water to the affected areas. He also called for increasing the effectiveness of tanker service.—APP
