NAWABSHAH, June 5: Tension gripped Gharibabad area of Nawabshah on Sunday after a worker of the MQM was killed late on Saturday night.

Imran Qazi, 24, was killed after a scuffle during a cricket match between two groups of youths turned violent and some people opened fire.

Ms Tasleem Qureshi and Ms Fakhrunnisa were injured in the firing which continued throughout Sunday, creating panic among people. Three vehicles were set ablaze.

Mourners staged a sit-in at Shaheed Chowk and kept the body of the victim there for some time.

Airport police, on the complaint of the brother of the deceased, have registered a case against five accused — Irfan Rind, Ali Khan, Ahmed Khan Rind, Qurban Manghi and Rab Nawaz Zardari.
