KARACHI, Oct 24: City School Darakhshan beat Bay View High by eight wickets in the Rev. Father Robert D’Silva Golden Jubilee Invitation Inter-school cricket tournament, played Thursday.

Winning the toss and batting first, Bay View High were skittled out for 66 runs in 20.4 overs, losing their last four wickets without any addition to the score.

Taha Mashadi was the only batsman to reach double figures scoring 22 runs. Farhan Shaikh three for no runs in four deliveries, Usmanul Haq two for three runs and Ashok Kumar two for 11, did the damage.

City School Darakhshan reached the target in 13 overs for two wickets. Omair Farooqi was unbeaten with 30 runs and Behram Khan weighed in with 25.

In another match Foundation Public School booked their berth in the semifinals after beating City School P.A.F. Chapter by seven wickets.

City School batting first struggled to 116 for nine in their 25 allotted overs with Asim Abbasi (27) and Hasnat Mazhar (22), among the runs. Noor Ali picked up three for 15 in his five over spell and Ammad Qureshi using the new ball for good measure, had figures of two for 27.

Foundation Public School in reply scored 117 for three wickets in 20.2 overs, with openers Noor Ali unbeaten with 62 and Zohaib Anjum (31), putting their team on the victory trail with an opening stand of 87. Fahad Rasheed bagged all the three wickets that fell, conceding 15 runs.

With this facile victory, Foundation Public will now take on St. Patrick’s High School in the semifinals. On Saturday St. Michael’s Convent School, meet City School PAF Chapter at the P.A.D. ground.
