KARACHI, May 31: Matches resumed in the ongoing T20 Pentangular Women Cricket Tournament at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi with the teams getting new names after finding sponsorships.

In the first match Shezan Eaglets beat Ufone Orioles by 78 runs. The toss was won by Orioles who then put Shezan into bat.

They made 130 for four in 20 overs. Skipper Nain Abidi scored 29 off 26 balls that also included three fours while partner Sumaiya Siddique got 28 also on 26 balls hitting an equal number of fours. Nazia Sadiq hit five fours in her brisk 23 off 21 balls. Meanwhile, Alizbath Barket of Orioles picked up three wickets while giving away 15 runs.

In reply, Orioles could only make 52 runs before getting all out in 14.5 overs. Eaglets’ Sumaiya Siddique and Almas Akram got three wickets each while giving away six and 18 runs, respectively. Sumaiya Siddique was declared Player of the Match.

In the second match LU Hawks beat Unifoam Falcons by 19 runs. Electing to bat first after winning the toss Hawkes put on 133 for four in 20 overs.

Captain Bismah Maroof led from the front to score 53 in 24 balls which included as many as 11 fours as Marina Iqbal chipped in with 32 off 31 balls with the help of one four and two sixes and Sidra Amin adding another valuable 19 runs to the score.

In reply, Falcons could only make 114 for nine in their 20-over quota. Naheeda Bibi did even better than Bismah when she made 67 off 66 balls but it couldn’t be enough to win the match for them as Hawkes’ Bakhtawar Iqbal picked up five wickets for 15 runs. She was also named the Player of the Match.

Summarised scores: First match: Shezan Eaglets 130-4 in 20 overs (Nain Abdi 29, Sumaiya Siddique 28, Faryal Awan 27, Nazia Sadiq 23; Alizbath Barket 3-15).

Ufone Orioles 52 in 14.5 overs (Sumiya Siddique 3-6, Almas Akram 3-18).

Second match: LU Hawks 133-4 in 20 overs (Bismah Maroof 53, Marina Iqbal 32, Sidra Amin 19).

Unifoam Falcons 114-9 in 20 overs (Naheeda Bibi 67, Batool Fatima 20; Bakhtawar Iqbal 5-15).
