TAXILA, May 26: Five armed men barged into the G. T. road branch of a private bank on Thursday and made off with Rs2.40 million without facing any resistance from armed guard and bank crew.

The CCTV footage revealed that four robbers went inside the bank at around 1.40pm on Thursday while their fifth member stayed outside to provide cover and were dressed in shalwar kameez.

After looting the cash from bank counter they fled away in a white Suzuki van with Applied For registration number. They took along with them the gun of the security guard.

The police have taken the footages in their custody for further investigation. When contacted the bank manger Mumtaz Hussain remained tight-lipped about the incident. He said that he is barred by the higher authorities from giving information to the media. He also refused to comment when asked that why the bank security guard did not put up resistance, although they were heavily guarded. — Correspondent
