LAHORE, May 21: PPP leader Babar Awan has asked PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to respond to his five questions before criticising the federal government over the US operation in Abbottabad.

He was speaking at a seminar “Zulfikar Ali Bhutto -- Constitution and Justice” organised by the Pakistan Foundation for Democracy at Aiwan-i-Iqbal here on Saturday.

While asking questions, Babar Awan was very critical of Nawaz Sharif for leaving the country after seeking pardon from Pervez Musharraf.

“Why did Sharif not hold an inquiry into the Kargil operation. Instead of taking the people into confidence he preferred to go to the US? Why Sharif handed over Aimal Kansi to the US? Why did he not call a joint session over the Kargil and Kansi issues? Why is Sharif not returning Rs4 billion loan he had taken from the NBP some 11 years ago? Why Nawaz Sharif took along with him the Punjab Elite Force for his protection in Sindh? Benazir Bhutto and Zafarullah Khan Jamali would visit Punjab but they never did so. What example Mr. Sharif is setting?” Awan asked and advised the Sharif brothers not to fool people again on 'breaking begging bowl'.

“Nawaz Sharif had once broken the begging bowl and then misappropriated hard-earned money of the people through his fraudulent (National Debt Retirement Scheme) 'karz utaro mulk sanwaro'” he said.

Babar Awan said the PML-N was the only party which could not join hands with any other political force in the country. “Be it MQM, PML-Q, JUI-F or ANP, the PML-N is mostly interested in making alliance with 'tanga' parties.”

He said farmers would 'take revenge' from the PML-N in the 2013 election as its government was spending Rs14 billion on one road in Lahore and doing nothing for them.

“I will request the federal government to enhance the support price of wheat to give relief to farmers,” he said.

Babar Awan, who resigned as the federal law minister a few months ago to represent the president in the Bhutto case reference, said he was ready to dedicate his whole life to fight for the cause of Bhutto.

He said Bilawal Bhutto would return Pakistan in September. Awan was however careful to make comments on judiciary. “Take Bilawal to courts”, he made an angry comment on the history of the courts in the country.

Other PPP leaders Samiullah Khan, Raja Riaz, Usman Malik, Azizur Rehman Chan, Mushtaq Awan, Zakriya Butt and Faiza Malik were also present.
