Man killed over petty dispute

TAXILA, May 19: A young man was killed over a petty dispute in Dhoke Sondki in the limits of Hassanabdal police on Thursday.

Police said Mohammad Naveed had exchanged hot words with Bilal Shah and Imran Shah when their cattle strayed into his fields a few day back. Naveed was returning home when Bilal and Imran allegedly opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.

RAWALPINDI, May 19: A young man committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun in his house in Qaziabad on Thursday, police said.

“My brother, Shakeel Hassan, 26, was a drug addict and had tried to finish himself by taking poison some time back but he survived,” said Jameel Hassan.

He said that he was about to leave for his job, when he heard the gunshot from the compound of his house. He hurried inside and found his brother lying dead in the pool of blood. The police registered the case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, a person was shot dead allegedly by his rivals in Raja Town, Westridge, police said. —Staff Reporter

Sued for damages

ISLAMABAD, May 19: Former cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz was sued for damages in the lower court by a lawyer for not paying fee for the cases he fought for him in the courts.

Hassan Alyas Kaifi advocate filed Rs500 million damages suit against the cricketer as compensation for the fee. Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Akmal Khan heard the case on Thursday.

Sarfraz Nawaz also appeared before the judge and told the court that he would submit his reply regarding the charges leveled against him in the next hearing.

After that the judge adjourned the case till May 28.—Staff Reporter
