PESHAWAR, April 26: In a second such incident within a week, an under trial prisoner (UTP) was gunned down and another wounded outside a court in the Judicial Complex at Khyber Road here on Tuesday.

An official of East Cantonment police station said that the victim, identified as Riaz of Gulabad, had been in the prison in different cases registered against him at Gulberg and Bana Mani police stations of Peshawar.

“The jail police had brought him to the court of judicial magistrate Danish Afridi when the attacker Irfan of Bazidkhel opened firing on him with a pistol on the third floor of the building. As a result, Mr Riaz died on the spot while another accused Farman of Peshtakhara sustained bullet injuries,” he said.—Bureau Report
