ISLAMABAD, April 19: Murree and adjoining hilly areas received hailstorm and rain on Tuesday turning the weather cold, as twin cities also witnessed drizzle.

Murree received 27 mm rainfall. Earlier it had seen unexpected snowfall on April 5, breaking the 40 years record.

Tourists and locals were astonished to see the unusual weather and they came out after the hailstorm stopped to enjoy the weather.

An official of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said a weak western disturbance will continue affecting Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas during the next 24 hours.

However, continental air is likely to prevail over most parts of the country during the next few days.

In Punjab and the federal capital, mainly dry weather is likely in most parts of the province during the next few days.

However, rain with thunderstorm is expected at isolated places of Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions on Tuesday night.

The weather will remain dry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh during the next few days. In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, mainly dry weather is likely in most parts of the province during the next few days. However, rain with thunderstorm is expected at isolated places of Kashmir.

The Met Office has advised the farmers to complete the harvesting during the coming days as the weather will remain dry across the country.

However, there is a slight chance of rain in the last week of April, the official said. — APP
