RAWALPINDI, April 15: In yet another incident of robbery of similar style on Friday in a quick succession as the robbers tortured an infant to force the parents to hand them over the cash and valuables.

In the latest incident, a gang of six robbers broke into the house of a senior lawyer in RA Bazaar just before the Friday prayer. Two of them went upstairs and picked up a six-month-old baby. They began to toss her up and down in front of her parents as they were demanding cash and ornaments.

In the robbery of similar style on Thursday, the gunmen entered into the house in Lalazar II and held the infant upside down to force her mother to give them cash and valuables. However, none of the culprits were arrested by the police so far.

Naveed Abbasi, a senior advocate said that six robbers armed with pistols forced their entry into the house and held the inmates hostage.

He said, “Two of the robbers went upstairs and picked up my six-month old baby and threw her up and down. She remained unhurt however got terrified and started screaming.”

He said the robbers slapped the male members of the family but did not hurt the female. They demanded of the hostages to give up cash and gold ornaments.

Naveed Abbasi said: “We could not tolerate the little baby to be tortured by the robbers so, they gave them Rs500,000 and 26 tola ornaments.”

He said the robbers made off with the booty after locking the inmates in a room.

Later, the police arrived and took the finger prints, drew the sketches of the robbers with the help of the victims and left the house.
