SUKKUR, April 11: A 26 inch diameter pipeline, supplying gas to Guddu power station from Sui, blew up near Guddu on Monday night after some explosive material implanted on it exploded.

A five-foot piece of the pipeline was blown apart and personnel of police and Rangers cordoned off the area after the explosion.

No member of technical staff of the Sui Southern Gas Company reached there to repair the damaged pipeline.

The explosion did not affect power generation at the power station as was being supplied gas through an alternate pipeline. Concerned SSGC officials, including the company's in-charge for Kandhkot-Kashmore-Guddu Region Ghazi Anwer Kerio did not respond to calls when contacted.
