KARACHI, April 10: Sindh’s Sara Ahmed set precedence for others when she successfully cleared two-day ITF Level I Officiating Course held in Islamabad recently.
Designed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the course was held under the aegis of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF). The world governing body nominees Mohammad Arif Qureshi and Shahzad Akhtar Alvi conducted the course.
She is one of the 12 and first woman from Sindh who has passed the course with flying colours. Twenty two men and women across the country appeared in the course.
“My aim is to gain experience by supervising local and national ranking tournaments which is prerequisite to apply for white badge,” she told Dawn.
Sara, who comes from a sporting family, said she felt honoured on her success and look forward to make it a career in future. It may be mentioned that her two cousins — Arif Iftikhar and Tahir Iftikhar — have played Davis Cup for Pakistan in the past.
Sara, who is among the top eight women players of the country and Sindh No 2, said she would apply for white badge approximately after a year.
