LAHORE, April 5: A woman allegedly strangled her six-year-old son over a family dispute in Sabzazar on Tuesday. Police said Waseem Sohail of Jamil Town contracted second marriage with Saima of Multan some six months ago. As a result, Sohail’s relations with his first wife, Yasmin, were strained and they would often quarrel on this issue.

Quoting Yasmin, the police said Sohail exchanged words with her when she asked him to give her and her son, Usman, proper time.

Sohail, however, ignored her and went to Faisalabad to meet his relatives. From there he went to Multan.

On Tuesday, Yasmin strangled Usman and informed Sohail about her act. She told him that she could not look after Usman alone.

The police arrested Yasmin and registered a case against her on the complaint of Sohail.

Usman’s body was sent to the city morgue for an autopsy.
