PESHAWAR, Nov 13: Awami National Party has sought the help of United Nations Secretary-General for holding Loya Jirga in Afghanistan and has termed it the only solution for the present crisis in Afghanistan.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, Bashir Ahmad Matta, secretary foreign affairs, said that Loya Jirga was the only viable solution of Afghanistan. For the establishment of a broadbased government in Afghanistan, he demanded of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to come forward with his concrete efforts for holding a Loya Jirga. In case of failure of political efforts, he said, the war-ravage country would plunge into a deeper crisis.

Supporting former King Zahir Shah, the ANP leader said he only the former king could play a role which, would be acceptable to all Afghans. He said the former King was not only supported by Pukhtoons but all the nationalities of Afghanistan.

Bashir Matta also urged Osama bin Laden to leave the war-torn country.
