NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Oct 14: MNA-elect from NA-212 Syed Zafar Ali Shah of the PPP has alleged that the district police acted as a party in the elections and they harassed the PPP voters on the behest of the Jatoi group.

He said that the polling agents of the PPP candidates were kidnapped, beaten up and arrested on behest of Nausharo Feroze district Nazim Masroor Jatoi.

He said that Masroor held meeting of the SHOs of the district at his residence in New Jatoi one day before polling and issued instructions, in the presence of the DPO, that he wanted results in favour of the candidates of the Jatoi group.

Shah was speaking at a press conference here on Sunday with the People’s Party Parliamentarians candidates, Zulfiqar Ali Behan (NA-211), Qurban Ali Behan (PS-19), Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah (PS-21) and Dr Abdul Sattar Rajpar (PS-22).

Speaking on the occasion, Zulfiqar Behan said that his 40 agents were arrested and seven kidnapped.

He alleged that the district Nazim, with police protocol, went to Qamruddin Chandio polling station and beat up his agent Suleman Shah.

Rajpar alleged that his agent at the polling station-62 was forcibly driven away, and Abul Hassan, the agent at polling station-63, and Mohammad Haroon Khaskheli were kidnapped.

Two PPP polling agents were present in the press conference, who claimed that they were kidnapped after being beaten up at the polling stations.

Rajpar claimed that polling was stopped at polling station of Allah Bux Mari, where assistant presiding officer (ARO) Noor Mohammad was injured, and result of the polling station was announced without the consent of the ARO.

He said that his agents were harassed by some union council Nazims at polling station 99, 100, 1001, 79, 62, and 63.

When contacted, Naushahro Feroze district Nazim Masroor Jatoi said that he was not involved in rigging and holding of the meeting of the police officials was his right.
