LANDI KOTAL, March 17: Militants blew up another girls' school and destroyed two more bridges here on Wednesday night.

Local officials said that a powerful blast completely destroyed the two-room government girls primary school in Alamkhanu locality at around midnight. No one was hurt in the explosion.

In Bara, unidentified armed men blew up two more bridges in Jani Khwarh area of Akkakhel. Militants have so far destroyed at least seven bridges in different parts of Bara in less then two weeks' time. Nobody has so far taken responsibility of either of the incidents.

Authorities in Jamrud claimed to have arrested leaders of two kidnappers' gang. They said that Haji Gul and Najeebullah alias Said were arrested during a search operation conducted at Shahkas area. And while the administration claimed nabbing the kidnappers, unidentified men abducted Taza Gul from Qabaro Mela locality of Jamrud.

Meanwhile, in Lakki Marwat, a tube-well of water supply scheme in Ahmadabad locality was destroyed in a blast in the early hours on Thursday.

Official sources said that unknown miscreants had planted explosives at a room containing the tube-well, which went off with a big bang.

“The explosion was heard in the entire locality and adjacent villages,” the sources said. Police and bomb disposal squad personnel reached the place and surrounded the area. A case was registered against unknown accused.

In FR Kohat, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan killed an alleged spy and threw his body in Shni Kalay area on Thursday.

The militants also left a leaflet with the body in Darra Adam Khel warning the tribesmen of similar fate if they did not stop providing information about TTP to government agencies.

The deceased was later identified, Hamid Khan Afridi, as a man in his thirties and resident of Pirwalkhel village located in Akhorwal region. Tariq Afridi group claimed responsibility.

Officials said that the incident took place after security forces arrested seven harbourers of militants on charges of abetting terror activities in Darra Adam Khel on Wednesday last.
