PESHAWAR, March 1: A female belonging to Karak district appeared before the high court here on Tuesday and alleged her teenaged daughter had been kidnapped by three police officials over six months ago and since then she had been missing.

The women, Ms Bilqees, who appeared in person, pointed towards the three policemen present in the courtroom and stated that one of them, Mohsin Shah, had forcibly taken away her daughter, Uzma Ayub, during a raid on her house.

A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel referred the case to the bench which had initially heard the case and directed the woman and the police officials to appear on Wednesday.

The chief justice had taken suo motu notice of the issue last month after receiving an application filed by the woman. In that application, she had alleged that some influential people had kidnapped her daughter and the police had been trying to cover up the issue.

Ms Kulsoom, a resident of Marwatan Banda area in Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil, narrated her ordeal in her local Pashto dialect which was hard to comprehend by most of the people present in the courtroom. She told the bench that she was at her house when the police officials including the SHO, Pir Mohsin Shah, a sub-inspector Hakeem Khan and Amir Muhammad raided her residence without any female constable.

She alleged that they also took away some cash and gold ornaments. She added that her 15-year-old daughter was a student of ninth class. She claimed that she had constantly been requesting the police for recovery of her daughter but they have turned a deaf ear to her pleas.

The official, Mohsin Shah, said that she had moved the court under section 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code and on court order the police registered FIR of the case on Sept 25, 2010. He added that in that FIR the woman had charged four persons but not the police.

He stated that three of the said four persons got pre-arrest bail from a local court, whereas the fourth one had been absconding. He alleged that the sons of the woman were anti-social elements and were involved in various cases.
