LAHORE, Feb 28: Pakistan People’s Party parliamentary leader Raja Riaz criticising the Punjab chief minister for what he called his dictatorial style said uniform is the only thing that differentiates Shahbaz Sharif from former president Gen Pervez Musharraf (retired).

“Being part of Shahbaz’s cabinet for the last three years, I have noticed that uniform is the only difference between Shahbaz and Musharraf,” Riaz said.

The former senior minister told reporters that Shahbaz Sharif should stop calling himself “Khadim-i-Aala” (chief servant of public) because those who claimed such titles did not live in palaces.

“Shahbaz is a Mughal prince as he has set up three camp offices in Lahore. He should better stop the drama of calling himself Khadim-i-Aala,” he said.

The PPP leader, who, along with 107 other legislators of the party, will onwards play the role of opposition in the Punjab Assembly, said Nawaz Sharif being a senior politician should not promote horse-trading. He said the PPP would continue its policy of reconciliation but raise voice against the Punjab government’s corruption and squandering of public money.

He said the chief minister should also stop spending lavishly on his airborne tours in the province.

Earlier, Raja Riaz and six other ministers of the PPP offered a thanksgiving prayer at Data Darbar for being separated from Punjab government. “We are feeling liberated after getting out of Punjab government,” he said.

On the occasion, a good number of PPP workers gathered there chanting slogans against the PML-N leaders and ‘turncoats’.
