KARACHI, Feb 27: A man was shot dead and another wounded in the Ahsanabad area near the Superhighway within the remit of the Sohrab Goth police station, police said on Sunday.

A duty officer at the Sohrab Goth police station said a man, Raja Soomro, opened fire on Allauddin and Ilahi Bux after an exchange of hot words during a cockfight.

He said Allauddin died on the spot and Ilahi Bux sustained bullet wounds and was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

The police said the suspect escaped.

Bodies found

The bullet-riddled body of a young man was found in the Ibrahim Hyderi area early on Sunday morning, police said. A duty officer at the Ibrahim Hydri police station said the body was found near the Mehrunissa Hospital in the locality. The victim was shot multiple times, he said.

The body was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination.

The police said the body was identified as that of Syed Jawad Husain, a resident of Korangi, by his brother. The victim was a garment factory worker.

A case (FIR 75/2011) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unknown persons at the Ibrahim Hyderi police station.

The trussed-up body of an unidentified man stuffed in a gunny bag was found in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Sunday morning.

Police said the body was found on a vacant plot in Gulistan-i-Jauhar's Block 5. It was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination.

Quoting hospital sources, the police said the victim was tortured before being killed with a blunt weapon.

The body was sent to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for want of identification.

Meanwhile, another unidentified body was found within the remit of the Zaman Town police station.

Police said the body was found in the Noorani graveyard and the victim was shot four times. They said that since no spent bullet casings were found at the crime-scene, it appeared the man was killed elsewhere and the body was dumped there.
