CHAKWAL, Feb 26: A woman strangled her minor niece out of sheer vengeance on Saturday.

Shahid Mehmood, resident of Bhulial village of tehsil Kallar Kahar, told police that his five-year-old daughter was strangled by his sister-in-law Naila Malik.

He alleged that on Friday evening when he came home, he was told by his wife that his daughter Sundas had gone missing. His wife tried her best to find her daughter but all in vain.

In the evening, the parents made announcements from the loudspeakers of the mosque but to no avail. The relatives and villagers also joined the couple in tracing the girl.

When the ill-fated parents were coming home after failing in their efforts, a heinous tragedy encountered them in the street as they saw the body of their girl wrapped in a piece of cloth lying in front of Naila's house.

Naila Malik confessed of killing Sundas in act of vengeance. “Naila was sent to judicial lock-up in Jhelum after she confessed to the crime,” a police official at Kallar Kahar police station said. Dawn

Talking to , Shahid said he had no animosity with his sister-in-law.

“She was involved in immoral activities and I used to reprimand her. That's why she killed my daughter,” Shahid said.
