Four constables sacked

LAHORE, Feb 20: Four constables have been sacked for the absence from duty and showing negligence while 17 others, including a cook and three sweepers, have been awarded multiple punishments for different charges.

According to a handout issued here on Sunday, SP (Headquarters) Rao Munir Zia announced the punishments while disposing of show-cause notices. Constables Muhammad Yahya, Shoaib, Hasrat Kamal and Shakir Hussain have been fired from the service.

TWO HELD: Baghbanpura and Sarwar Road police claimed to have arrested six members of two robbers’ gangs and recovered Rs400,000 in cash, five cell phones, metal worth Rs1 million and illegal weapons from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Zubair alias Zaidi, Naveed, Salim, Saddam Hyder, Shahid and Azam.

Youth dies: A 25-year-old youth died by suicide on Sunday after in Makka Colony being rejected by a woman he wanted to marry, Naseerabad police said the doorstep of his paramour in Kabutarpura locality of Makka Colony on Sunday.

Quoting witnesses, Naseerabad police said victim identified as Atif, of Shahdara, shot himself in the temple outside the house of the woman.
