WASHINGTON, Oct 5: The Americans hope that India and Pakistan would resume their dialogue on the Kashmir dispute and other bilateral issues once the elections in Pakistan and the held Kashmir are over, AJK Legislative Assembly Speaker Sardar Mohammad Sayab Khalid said on Saturday.

The speaker is leading a 7-member delegation to the United States and Canada to create awareness about the Kashmir issue among the officials and lawmakers.

“The Americans realize that the Kashmir issue could lead to a war, even a possible nuclear conflict, in South Asia if not resolved,” said Sayab Khalid after a meeting with the state department officials.

Talking to Pakistani newsmen, the delegates said they found the Canadians more receptive to their views. Some Canadian lawmakers, they said, also agreed to urge their prime minister to appoint a special envoy for Kashmir after their meeting with the Kashmiri representatives.
