PESHAWAR, Feb 3: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday disposed of a writ petition filed by wife of a missing person as the concerned ministries and intelligence agencies expressed ignorance about his whereabouts.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel directed the petitioner, Ms Meena, that in future if she received any information about her husband, she could move the court again.

The petitioner has alleged that she along with her husband, Maazullah, and two children had gone to Dabgari area to see a doctor on Oct 27, 2009.

She claimed that from there they were taken into custody by personnel of an intelligence agency and local police. Few days later, she claimed, she and her children were set free whereas her husband was still missing.

Deputy Attorney General Muhammad Iqbal Mohmand informed the bench that he had contacted the ministries of defence and interior and they had expressed ignorance about the missing person. Earlier, the local police had also stated that they had no information about the man.

Meanwhile, in a writ petition filed for recovery of two missing persons, the bench put on notice the Military Intelligence (MI) and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) after the tribal administration of Khyber Agency expressed ignorance about him.

The petition is filed by a resident of Bara tehsil, Luqman Khan, who alleged that his father, Abdul Maajan and brother Shahid were taken into custody by the tribal administration on Jan 7, 2010, and since then they had been missing.

Similarly, the court put on notice the ministries of interior and defence filed by father of a missing boy as the local police denied his arrest. The petitioner, Payo Khan, a resident of Nowshera, alleged that his son Suleman was taken into custody on Oct 20, 2010, and he had now been missing.

In another petition filed by wives of two brothers, the court summoned the SHO of the concerned Chamkani police station on Feb 16.

The two women had a day earlier submitted an application to the chief justice wherein they alleged that their spouses, Mikael Khan and Ali Akber, were picked up from their house about 10 days ago by the local police.
