PESHAWAR, Feb 2: The officials of district administration here on Wednesday seized three trucks and 200 cattle, which were being transported illegally to Afghanistan. The officials stopped the trucks at Hayatabad Principal Chowk following complaints of general public concerning transportation of cattle to Afghanistan without legal documents.

Assistant coordination officer (ACO) Syed Zafar Ali conducted a raid on the trucks near Hayatabad Principal Chowk and got hold of three trucks and 200 cattle that were set to be transported to Afghanistan.

According to the officials, the truck drivers had no documents such as permit etc that authorised transportation of cattle to Afghanistan.

They said that the cattle and trucks were impounded and handed over to the police station Hayatabad with the direction to district livestock officer to submit a detailed report.

The officials said that they had asked the Livestock Department to intimate the number of cattle already transported to Afghanistan through permit as the quota fixed by the federal government was 25,000 cattle a year.

They said that there was a possibility that the quota fixed for the transportation of cattle to Afghanistan, might have expired.
