QUETTA, Jan 30: Ten people were arrested here in connection with a bombing incident taking place on Saturday near the residence of a senior police officer. “We have taken 10 persons into custody for questioning over the bomb explosion that injured eight people,” police sources said on Sunday.

They said the arrested men, who were rounded up during raids in different areas of Quetta on Saturday night, had been handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.

The bomb — which was planted in a vehicle parked close to the house of a senior police officer, Shaban Ali, in Alamdar road area — was detonated through remote control.

A spokesman for the outlawed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Ali Sher Haideri, claimed responsibility for the blast on behalf of his group.
